Script Error While Exporting Data from QuickBooks Online
How to fix the script error that occurs when trying to export data from QuickBooks Online by clearing your browser cache.
Overview
A "Script Error" when exporting data from QuickBooks Online is typically caused by cached browser data interfering with the export process. Clearing your browser cache usually resolves the issue.
How to Fix the Script Error
-
Clear your browser cache and cookies -- Go to your browser's settings and clear the browsing data, including cached images/files and cookies.
- Chrome: Settings > Privacy and Security > Clear Browsing Data
- Firefox: Settings > Privacy & Security > Clear Data
- Edge: Settings > Privacy, Search, and Services > Clear Browsing Data
-
Close and reopen your browser -- After clearing the cache, fully close the browser and reopen it.
-
Sign back into QuickBooks Online -- Log in and retry the export operation.
If the Error Persists
- Try a different browser -- Switch to another supported browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari) to rule out browser-specific issues.
- Disable browser extensions -- Ad blockers and other extensions can sometimes interfere with QuickBooks Online exports. Try disabling them temporarily.
- Use an incognito/private window -- This bypasses all cached data and extensions, providing a clean environment for the export.
- Check your internet connection -- A slow or intermittent connection can cause script timeouts during data export.
