QuickBooks Online Disallows Access
How to resolve access denied errors in QuickBooks Online by clearing browser data and troubleshooting technical issues.
If QuickBooks Online is blocking your access or showing an error when you try to log in, the problem is typically related to your browser's stored data or a temporary technical issue with the service.
Clear Cookies and Cache
The first step is to clear your browser's cookies and cache:
- Open your browser settings.
- Find the option to clear browsing data (usually under Privacy or History).
- Select Cookies and Cached images and files.
- Clear the data, then close and reopen your browser.
- Navigate to QuickBooks Online and try logging in again.
Other Steps to Try
If clearing cookies and cache does not resolve the issue:
- Use an incognito or private browsing window to rule out interference from extensions or stored data.
- Try a different browser such as Chrome, Firefox, or Edge.
- Check that JavaScript is enabled in your browser settings, as QuickBooks Online requires it.
- Disable any ad blockers or privacy extensions temporarily, as they can interfere with the login process.
- Verify your login credentials -- make sure you are using the correct email and password for your Intuit account.
Persistent Issues
If you continue to be denied access after trying the steps above, the issue may be related to your user permissions within the QuickBooks Online subscription. Contact the account administrator to verify that your user role has not been changed or removed.
