How to Link a Bank Account With QuickBooks Online
Troubleshooting steps when your bank account will not connect to QuickBooks Online, including clearing cache and contacting support.
Overview
Connecting your bank account to QuickBooks Online allows you to automatically download transactions, saving time on data entry. If the connection is not working, there are several things you can try.
Troubleshooting Steps
-
Clear your web browser cache -- Accumulated cache data can interfere with the bank connection process. Clear your browser's cache and cookies, then restart the browser and try again.
-
Verify your bank credentials -- Make sure you can log in to your bank's website directly. If your bank login is not working outside of QuickBooks, the issue is with your bank account, not QuickBooks.
-
Check for bank outages -- Your bank may be undergoing maintenance or experiencing technical issues. Check your bank's website or social media for any service disruption notices.
-
Try a different browser -- Some bank connections work better in certain browsers. If you are having trouble in one browser, try Chrome, Firefox, or Edge.
-
Contact Intuit support -- If the issue persists after trying the steps above:
- Go to the Intuit support center
- Select your QuickBooks product
- Navigate to the Contact Us page and select a relevant topic
- Use the available contact options to reach a support representative
Tips
- Not all banks and credit unions are compatible with QuickBooks Online. Check the bank connection list in QuickBooks to confirm your institution is supported.
- If your bank recently changed its website or login process, the QuickBooks connection may need to be updated. Disconnecting and reconnecting the bank feed can sometimes resolve this.
