How to Clear Web Cache in Safari
Step-by-step instructions for clearing your Safari browser cache to resolve QuickBooks Online access and performance issues.
Overview
If QuickBooks Online is not working properly in Safari, clearing your browser's cached data can often resolve the issue. Accumulated cache can cause login problems, pages failing to load, or other unexpected behavior.
How to Clear Cache in Safari
-
Open the History menu -- Click History in the Safari menu bar at the top of the screen.
-
Select "Clear History and Website Data" -- This opens the cache clearing dialog.
-
Choose the time range -- From the dropdown menu, select all history to remove all cached data.
-
Confirm the action -- Click Clear History. This will remove browsing history, cookies, and other cached website data.
-
Close all Safari windows -- Quit Safari completely to ensure the changes take effect.
-
Restart Safari -- Reopen the browser.
-
Try QuickBooks again -- Navigate to the QuickBooks Online sign-in page and attempt to log in.
Tips
- Clearing history and website data in Safari removes data for all websites, not just QuickBooks. You will need to sign in again to other websites you use.
- If the issue persists after clearing the cache, try using Safari's Private Browsing mode (File > New Private Window) to test whether cached data was the cause.
- Make sure Safari is updated to the latest version for the best compatibility with QuickBooks Online.
