How to Clear Web Cache in Internet Explorer

Step-by-step instructions for clearing temporary internet files in Internet Explorer to resolve QuickBooks Online issues.

Overview

If you are using Internet Explorer to access QuickBooks Online and experiencing issues such as pages not loading, login problems, or display errors, clearing the browser's temporary internet files can help resolve these problems.

How to Clear Cache in Internet Explorer

  1. Click the gear icon in the upper-right corner of the Internet Explorer window.

  2. Select "Safety" from the dropdown menu.

  3. Click "Delete browsing history" -- This opens the deletion options dialog.

  4. Uncheck "Preserve Favorites website data" -- This ensures that all cached data is cleared, not just data from non-favorited sites.

  5. Check "Temporary Internet files" -- Make sure this option is selected.

  6. Click "Delete" -- Internet Explorer will remove the cached files.

  7. Click OK to close the dialog.

  8. Restart Internet Explorer -- Close all open Internet Explorer windows, then reopen the browser.

  9. Try QuickBooks again -- Navigate to the QuickBooks Online sign-in page and attempt to log in.

Tips

  • Internet Explorer is no longer actively supported by Microsoft. If you are still using it, consider switching to a modern browser like Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, or Mozilla Firefox for better compatibility with QuickBooks Online.
  • If clearing the cache does not resolve your issue, try clearing cookies as well, but note that this will sign you out of all websites.
