How to Cancel a QuickBooks Online Subscription

Overview

If you need to cancel your QuickBooks Online subscription, you can do so directly from the billing settings within your account. The process takes just a few steps.

Steps to Cancel

  1. Log into your account -- Sign in to the QuickBooks Online account you want to cancel.

  2. Open Settings -- Click the Gear icon near your company name in the upper-right corner.

  3. Go to Your Account -- Select Your Account from the dropdown menu.

  4. Access Billing Info -- In the left sidebar, click Billing Info.

  5. Edit Billing Info -- Click Edit Billing Info at the top of the page.

  6. Cancel Subscription -- Click Cancel Subscription and follow the on-screen prompts to confirm the cancellation.

Important Notes

  • Before canceling, make sure to export or back up any data you want to keep. QuickBooks Online may retain your data for a limited time after cancellation, but access will be restricted.
  • If you are on a payroll plan, you may need to handle payroll cancellation separately and ensure all tax filings are current before proceeding.
  • Review your billing cycle to understand whether you will be charged for the current period or if a prorated refund applies.
